Heartline Podcast – Episode 92 – Susan Norris & Detective Carol Largent
A Global Report on Trafficking Persons launched by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime - provides new information on a crime that shames us all: human trafficking. Statistics show that 79% of trafficking involves sexual exploitation, and 20% of the victims are children. This number increases to up to 100% in some foreign countries.
At the launch of the Report in New York, the Executive Director of the organization, Antonio Costa said that "many governments are still in denial about this problem. There is even neglect when it comes to either reporting on, or prosecuting cases of human trafficking". He pointed to the fact that while the number of convictions for human trafficking is increasing, two out of every five countries covered by the UNODC Report had not recorded a single conviction.
Today Heartline welcomes Susan Norris author of Rescuing Hope, a book that sounds the alarm on the heinous crime of human trafficking. Also joining us is detective Carol Largent who worked along side of Susan providing value information for the book.
